JoyceDeWitt first appeared on stage at the age of 13 years old. When she was 13, Dewitt began appearing on the stage. She earned the degree of Bachelor of Arts from Ball State University. The director encouraged her to join UCLA's Department of Theater MFA program. There she received the Master of Fine Arts Fellowship, as well as the Clifton Webb Scholarship. While attending UCLA she was employed as a secretary up to her first appearance on television on the show's episode Baretta.Contrary to rumors that she was trained by actor Abe Vigoda, Dewitt has stated that they never had a conversation. DeWitt is most well-known for her performance in Three's company's run from 1977 until 1984 as Janet Wood. This was the first job she had after she was cast in the second pilot. Janet also appeared in an episode of the show The Ropers in 1979. DeWitt began her acting career in an episode of 1984 of Three's Company. She returned to acting, taking an appearance in an episode of Noises Off at Michigan's Cherry County Playhouse in June 1991. [1] She also appeared in Spring Fling, which was a 1995 TV comedy. Pinky and the Brain aired a 1997 episode featuring a character based on her. The voice was performed in part by another actress. She was featured in an episode Cybill. She's appeared on TV shows like Hope Island, The Nick at Nite Holiday Special, and Call of the Wild in 2000.
