Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media critic for over 20 years. She is also a seasoned public speaker. Feminist Frequency was founded by Sarkeesian. The website hosts videos with commentary that analyze the depictions of women in the media and popular culture of today. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning Canadian-American feminist media critic and blogger. Feminist Frequency is a non-for profit website that focuses on gender representation in popular culture narratives - is created and is directed by Sarkeesian. She's committed to removing stereotypes of women as they are portrayed in popular culture. Additionally she aims to create the awareness of harassment on social media targeted at women and those who are marginalized. Sarkeesian who has a Master's in Political and Social Thought from York University, is a sought after public speaker. She has delivered speeches at TEDxWomen XOXO festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group for Gender. Feminist Frequency was created in 2009 by Sarkeesian, an undergraduate student at York University who had been fascinated by issues that concern gender and feminism since a long period of. The ambitious lady planned to create an online series on the gender roles in games but was the target of an online harassment campaign. The harassment didn't discourage her. She was only able to strengthen her position in her role as a feminist journalist. To honor the numerous achievements she's made for feministism, she's the recipient of numerous awards. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award award-winning journalist. She also serves as the director and founder of Feminist Frequency a nonprofit educational organization that explores pop culture depictions of women.
